Haruka First Episode Streaming Online!

Bandai Visual USA will be streaming the first episode of Haruka: Beyond the Stream of Time – A Tale of the Eight Guardians for free!. But!it will available only for Canadians and the US. This serie will be release on DVD this April 22nd.
Too bad not everyone can see it :(

Crunchyroll goes BIG! with a secured capital investment of $4.05mill

Crunchyroll Inc caught the attention of many people, not only otakus, but also the anime industry.

but... What's Crunchyroll?

It is only a website that streams anime, videos and oriental series. ( <3>Indeed, this little detail caught the attention of many people. Today, Crunchyroll site has over 4 mill unique visits, 250 mil pageviews and 50 mil stream videos monthly, 40% of them are from United States.

This fast growing company was the talk about topic of many Anime distribution companies and as well investors. Here is when Venrock comes into the picture, by helping crunchyroll with a secured capital investment of $4.05mill.

Additionally, Funimation Entertainment anounced they has been constantly monitoring crunchyroll.com. FE said since 2006 they has benn sending letters to this site about the copyright infrigments. Crunchyroll, as a good company, removed all licensed anime and they even posted "please support this anime and buy the DVDs". (I cant think of any better idea, I gotta admit the good work of crunchy).

Bandai doesnt stay behind, and 4 hours after F.E. finish their press conference, Bandai announced that they agreed with F.E. about their concern about free streaming anime videos and they have also sent letters to crunchy about licensed series. Crunchyroll did they same thing as they did with F.E.

"If you cant fight against them , join them!"

Apparently, Gonzo/GD, instead of go agains them, they decided to have a serious talk about working together

“we are talking about exchangin ideas of working together , so we both get benefits from it”

Gonzo is planning to do an official press conference to clarify things.

Crunchyroll previously said that DEL production Company gave them authorization to show the first episode of the serie Eagle Talon The Movie - The Chancellor Only Lives Twice. This episode was the first video anime int he site to be legally authorized.

Let's hope Crunchyroll keeps growing and make happy all the otakus :)

Speed Racer Film's Trailer

Speed Racer, a car-racing movie, was based on the anime "Mach Go Go Go". The 2 minute trailer is available in Yahoo! pages Here!.
The movie star is played by Emile Hirsch and the film will be release in North America this May 9th.
The trailer shows the detailed 3D animation of the racing cars. Let's hope the movie is as good as the anime serie. :)

Street Fighter Aniversary #20!

Udon Comics decided to celebrate their anniversary #20 of this classic game, by creating an art book high quality color!. Hence, they started a contest where anyone can send their original art work about this game to this emaill: sftribute@udoncomics.com

Obviously, there are some rules, such as: the characters must be from street fighter (any version of it), but you cant mix it with other characters (no even capcom)

Besides your work, you need to send some of your information: Name(no nick) and a valid email address. The art works has to be in JPG and low resolution, no more than 900kb.
Deadline: March 30th 2008.

Amuri in Star Ocean's Promo Video Posted Online

Amuri in Star Ocean releases their new promo video online!. This new series was created and written by Yoshitomo Tonetani. It is one of the first series that MA@YA will be working on, showing his famous 3D female characters.

This super-dimensional sciences-fiction anime will be release this march 21th and the DVD in May 23th, 2008.

Manglobe Studio announced a new project

From the creators of Ergo Proxy, Samurai Shamploo, Trip Trek , and others; Mangoble Studio announced it will be working on a new anime: Michiko to Hatchin. This serie is expected be on air by the end of this year in Japan.
Never the less, Michiko gathered an exellent team to accomplish this project. Starting with the director: Sayo Yamamoto (a the storyboarder and episode director on Samurai Champloo), the scriptwriter : Takashi Ujita (scriptwriter of the live-action Freesia), and the character design: Hiroshi Shimizu ( he was the animation director of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG). Even though, Shinichiro Watanabe (director of Samurai Champloo) will not be directing this anime, but he will be helping with the music.

Michiko and Hatchin are two girls but with different background. Michiko or sexy diva came from a inescapable prison while Hatchin ran away from an strict forster home. Both will be together to escape and find freedom. :)

HARUKA's premier @ Sakura-CON 2008

Bandai Visual USA announced the premier of HARUKA: Beyond of Time - A tale of the Eight Guardians in the Anual Convention in SAKURA-con 2008.

ANCEA/Sakura-Con 2008 has invited the director Aki Tsunaki as a Guest of Honor at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in Seattle, WA this March 28th - 30th.

Bandai has also announced the release of Haruka on DVD available in stores this April 22, 2008.

All members of Sakura-con will be the first to see this new anime in the US...Lucky them! >.<

Online Serialization of Shaman Warrior

Dark Horse Manhwa and Haksan publishing announced the first online publishing program. They will be releasing their volumes online!, leaving behind the old-style publishing method.
Yina Kwon from the Korean-based Haksan Publishing added: "We're pleased to be a part of such a tremendous event, and happy to share one of Korea's most renowned series with the English-speaking world. We are looking forward to some positive results in promotion of the ongoing series"

Dark horse already publish the first volume of Shaman Warrior! Let's see how well this goes ;)

Disney's Anime?

That’s right!. Walt Disney announced the new deal with Japanese Anime Industry. Disney’s new films will be working together with japan’s biggest animation studio, Toei Animeation Company. Amasing!

In order to show the world what are they made of, they will be releasing soon a new children’s films about a robot AND a soon to come japanese version of Lilo and Stich. Well, let’s see how good these movies will be !

Japanese Dream?

It may sound wierd but its true!. Sony Music Japan and MI Hollywood (Musicans Institute) have open their doors, offering casting for all the musicians, models, compositors, bands, etc… that want to start a career in the country to the rising sun :D. The requirements are:
1.- Upload their material in mp3 format to the Sony’s Japanese server or send them in CD or VHS format to MI Hollywood
2.- If your are selected, you must assist to their casting in the Musicans Institute in HollywoodIf you want to know more information, you can find it in this link.

In any way, it will be interesting to see how Sony takes advantage of the influence of the Japanese culture in countries such as United States.
